Fishing tonight with Jim from Troutwater.

This evening President Dave called our meeting to order at 7:35 pm.

Tonight we had 25 members and guest in attendance.

V. President Tom had on display a layout of the Walla Walla 4-H Super Saturday activities and the Thank you given our club for the help given that day.

Herb and Dale spoke of their connection with Brent Cummings of the Walla Walla School District and his plans to have an educational workshop concentrating on fly tying and fly fishing. This workshop will bring up to 20 educators from around the state of Washington to have a hands-on experience with fly fishing for the day.
Plans for this workshop are:

  • Wed., June 27th
  • 8am - 12pm (snack break from 10am-10:15am)
  • Whitman College (Maxey Hall, classroom # TBD)

Judy said that she would also like to take part with helping in this workshop. Anyone else that would like to join us please contact Walla² Fly Fishers via email at <wallawallaflyfishing@gmail.com for more details.

Joining us this evening was Sam and Brad from the newly opened Walla Walla Sportsman’s Warehouse. Sam is the store manager and Brad is the fishing (fly fishing) department salesperson. It was nice to get to meet them.
They brought with them this evening Sportsman’s Warehouse caps, $10 and $30 Gift Certificates.
Thank you Sam and Brad for the gifts.

This evening we had the pleasure to have Jim Gallagher fishing guide and co-owner of Troutwater Guide Service. This writer is not going to try to discuss here all the waters and fish species that Jim guides to, but will ask that your interest will take you to the following links to share in his guide services, the rivers he “works”, and his fishing expertise.

“I have had the pleasure of fishing with Jim Gallagher, co-owner of Trout Water Guide
Service in Ellensburg and Cle Elum for the past 14 plus years on several rivers in both Washington and Montana. His knowledge and expertise as a guide is unmatched as far as I am concerned. WE have fished for rainbow trout and Steelhead. The care he takes with his clients makes your fishing experience a pleasure. Bottom line is he works hard and enjoys helping his clients catch fish. And he takes very good care of the resource too. My recommendation to fly fishermen is to take at least one trip with him or one of his other experienced guides on any of the many rivers they fish to experience the knowledge and enjoyment of a guided fishing trip.”
-Vice President Tom

This evening the fly boxes went to… Joe winning the Door Prize and Heidi winning the Raffle.

Dale mentioned this evening that since he is again living next to the Walla Walla River at OR/WA state line, he has been posting FYI - emails to the club membership of the fly hatches he has observed, and tracking the water flow (cfs) of the river at Pepper Bridge.
