2013 a New Year and Its' Business at hand

The meeting was called to order by President Tyson at 7:15 this evening. Tonight was to be mostly a club business meeting with an election of new officers.
This evening we had 15 members and guest in attendance.
The planned program for this evening was a round table of fly tying, after our business at hand session.

First item discussed this evening was that Jacobi's Café will be raising their room use rate from $15 to $40 per night with or without meals and beverage. It was decided that we will immediately begin looking for a new location for meetings in our future.
February 13th meeting
is planned to be held at Jacobi's Café but,
be watchful for the club’s change of address thereafter.
Next item of discussion was 2013 club membership dues are due. Again our annual rates are $15 for individuals and $20 for full family membership.
Following this item, it was discussed the email that Tyson had sent to the current club officers recapping his two years in office and projecting what he felt were possibilities for our future. This discussion fanned out into many venues of where and how the club should consider moving.
Items discussed:

  •  Club fishing outings committee
  •  Establish a club fly fishing library – books and videos
  • Fly tying clinic
  • Develop a club fly fishing library of books, DVDs, CDs
  • 2013 Fly Fishing Fair at Waterbrook Winery – mid-June
  • Stream / lake fishing enhancement projects with WDFW
  • Lineup a fly fishing banquet / auction for fund raising
  • Monthly programs committee

From this point, Tyson brought up the matter of the club officers’ election to be conducted during this meeting. It was stated and Tom Craig would be willing to stay on as V. President, Doug Coe would be willing to stay on as Treasurer, and Dale McKain would be willing to stay on as Secretary, Tyson stated he wanted to relinquish the Presidency after his two years of service. A few words of appreciation and a round of applause followed on behalf of Tyson. The floor was then opened for the nomination for a new president. No one stepped forward. After a round of discussion, Tom came forward and said that he would take the President’s post, with the help of the club and a new VP. At that point Dave Stemmer came forward and said he would be available for the post of V. President. So with this slate of officers the motion was made the floor be closed for nomination and a vote to be cast to elect the above mentioned to fill the posts of club officers. It was so done.

New club officers are:
Tom Craig – President
Dave Stemmer – Vice President
Doug Cole – Treasurer
Dale McKain – Secretary

After the election it was discussed to provide Diane Briggs the funds to buy fly hooks as she is supplying flies for the Casting for Recovery project; an organization that aids women and men with their recovery of breast cancer. A vote was made and approved to have Diane buy the hooks needed and bill the club via invoice to Doug Coe.

As we began to wrap up club business, it was realized that there would be no time for fly tying, so the meeting was adjourned at 8:30.

Respectfully submitted,
Dale McKain
Secretary
